Graded to 1st Dan July 2012, been a member of Northstar since Jan 2006. Teaching since Sep/Oct 2012. Grant has competed in Japan in SAW and is also a member of the Northstar Team competing in the World Sports Ju Jitsu Championships in Poland 2013.

Northstar has given me focus and increased my awareness of both my body and mind, and has provided me a sense of community through Martial Arts. Working my way through the ranks to now being both a black belt and current adults trainer, it allows me to communicate and interact with like minded people who are focused on improving themselves both inside and out. Northstar is both a functional and effective Martial Arts school, as well and a great community of people sharing in the learning of Martial Arts.
My life and my interaction within it has changed since studying at Northstar by teaching me focus and awareness of my surrounding and how they influence me, and how I can perceive the situation, providing me with greater calmness and a clarity in approaching challenges that come my way.
Since becoming a trainer, this has increased and improved my own education in both Martial Arts and how to interact with people, and how you can have an influence on peoples lives. It also gives me a great sense of achievement when you can improve someones life and learning through this great school.

The essence of Andy's teaching is correct martial arts training is a great method of personal growth. It can be studied on the surface to get fit and learn self-defense and it can also lead to incredible changes in self-confidence, self-esteem, self-discipline and self knowledge.
