The covid hang over.

covid blog

Are you still hanging onto the past? I certainly would not hold it against you if you were? Covid, the big unknown just smashed the world from the very beginning. The good new is that the zombie apocalypse never happened, not yet at least. Cities from around the world are now all learning to live with covid.

It really seems here in Sydney that the whole covid thing never really happened and it a distant memory. But judging by the number of new cases, it is still very much a reality, and you can still get very sick. What is happening online? Well, business shifted to working at home. Due to the quarantine rules, depending on the city, people literally spent their entire lives at home and online.

Online shopping boomed. The postal service was out of control. Groceries were ordered online, and we saw the rise of food delivery companies like Milk Run boom that specialised in delivering all groceries by Bicycle.

It is really interesting how that market of immediate delivery by bicycle has just dried up. Milk Run has just sacked all of their employees and closed their trading doors. Many businesses during the covid lockdowns rushed to get their courses online so they could continue to exist while their gyms, studios and dojos were closed to trading. And for this reason, so many survived or at least the most robust survived.

Now these service businesses have reopened their doors to trading, they are having to transition from being online back to their bricks and mortar and to rebuild their business. What we are seeing now is many of the business’s that moved online during the pandemic have remained with a foot in the online market and a foot in the physical studio, hedging their bets with both. You cannot blame them being cautious as it will take some time to build trust back with the powers that control the lockdown status. Let’s face it the idea of premier of our state opened up a childish bullyboy argument between the so-called leaders of our states. Their arrogance and mis guided sense of leadership was all new to us, and the extent of their power was scary.

After experiencing that it is no wonder that businesses remain cautious. But your success will lie where your focus lies. Sooner or later, you have to choose. Am I an online business or am I a physical business. Once you choose it will take all of your focus to just build the one aspect of your offering. We all have a limited amount of time each day so staying on point and putting all of your resources into building the most important aspect of your business will make or break you.
